Where is Love

"Where is Love?" is a song I used to run around yelling

after being in the play "Oliver!" one summer.

A lot of life has happened since 1992, ha.

Ultimately, in times of crisis

and mourning
and uncertainty
our wallets can do the talking for us.

If you're like me

and become paralyzed
thinking about all the possibilities there are
to step in,
to take a stand,
to love one another,

the smallest act of a financial commitment
to organizations and companies that support
who we love,
what we love,
can ensure that those who are NOT paralyzed by action
can have the support they need.

Even before the election results rolled in,

I'd pledged my support to Kansas City Anti-Violence Project this year.
I'll probably add more agencies to my list.

For now, I want to share again the Classy Hat events that I have coming up that help me raise funds to support the work of KCAVP -- an LGBTQ support agency, primarily responding to domestic violence issues, but also reaching further to youth LGBTQ programming (KC Passages, for example!). They also just started a TPoC (Trans Person of Color) support group this year.

From now until the end of 2016, any time you buy a hat from me, I'll pass $5 through to KCAVP.

Thursday, November 17 3:30-7:00 - Home for the Holidays Arts & Craft Fair. This event supports Phoenix Family Housing, AND is a place where I'll be slinging hats for KCAVP. Event details here.

Saturday, November 26, 12-8:00 - Shop Local, Shop Cozy. This annual event is like a Mary Kay party, except with local, hand-made gifts for sale. This year Larissa from Unravelled, LLC is hosting us in her home. Event details here.

Friday, December 2, 6-10:00P - Love is ALWAYS in Fashion hat installation at Clubhouse during First Fridays in the Crossroads. My final fundraising drive for KCAVP. All you need to do is donate $5 to KCAVP and you can pick out a hat!

These events are all free, family friendly and include refreshments.

Wherever you are in your journey,

a little bit of love goes a long way.
