Stumbling on Fringe

Greetings, everyone!

As you may know from following my blog, I'm a very willing and able participant in the KC Fringe Festival. I've served in many different capacities in the past, but this year, I mainly get to float.

Two very important things of note:

1. The Fringe 411 Boutique

My arts group, Classy Collective is participating in this pop-up shop downstairs at Union Station. Our wares are for sale alongside other Fringe visual artists. It's a tremendous opportunity to not only LOOK at visual art, but be able to take home more affordable versions of the gallery art. Click here for location/hours. Thank you, Sonia, for taking the nice photo for us! Seth, Tim, Larissa, and I all have art for sale.

2. The Shows

I'm taking a very patron-ly role this year and have a lot of shows planned. This segment of my life is called #ClassyDoesFringe and if you see me anywhere during the festival, let's take stupid selfies together, OK?

I'm out of commission in South Dakota this weekend, but this is...80% where I'll be next week. Stay in touch with me on social media for updates. Click here to see the venue list.

I offer this to you, because some of you are new to Fringe, or are just overwhelmed that there are over 100 things to choose from. I read the book "Stumbling on Happiness" once, and my big take away is that we tend to be happier with our decisions/choices when we have fewer options to begin with. So, this is my attempt to curb the overwhelming number of options. I chose these because 1) The schedule worked out, 2) I'm volunteering there, and/or 3) People I care deeply about are involved in the production.

Probably cleaning up the boutique. Come buy things, please, for the love of all that is holy.

No matter HOW you Fringe, it's important to the local arts community that you DO Fringe.

And Classy Does Fringe. Oh, does she.

PS. Make sure you buy your $5 festival button and keep it with you all the time. It's your one-time "gate admission" to the festival, THEN you just pay for show tickets after that. If you lose it, you have to buy another one. Don't be a shitty patron that fights with the volunteers, OK? Just buy your button.
