Mandalas - Duh!

A month or so ago, I was with my art group - We're a group of women who can get swept away into our full-time jobs/life/volunteer projects that we decided we needed to set aside a "meeting" time to just stop everything we were doing and make art together for awhile. We meet about twice a month. We bring projects to work on, and we occasionally have themes or projects planned ahead of time.

When I was with my group this time, we had an assignment of creating a mandala. Google image search and you see lots of beautiful line drawings that are generally circle-shaped ("mandala" = "circle" OK). They are beautiful. They are meditative.

Wikipedia describes mandalas as being useful in certain spiritual traditions. "...Mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of practitioners and adepts, as a spiritual guidance tool, for establishing a sacred space, and as an aid to meditation and trance induction."

Surprise, I think I've been using my hat looms for meditation for years now.

Now, I have clarity on 2 things:

1) I know why making scarves on the loom makes me so angry! No full circles (Joking. Kind of!)!

2) Finishing hats and then immediately wanting to give them to people brings closure to my spiritual practice.

From now on, when I give you a hat, I will loudly proclaim,

"Here! Enjoy the fruits of my mandala practice! I AM ONE WITH THE UNIVERSE."
