"Words are Hard" at the KC Fringe Festival

It's definitely happening.

I know I've been saying that for months, but look:

They put my name on a website, so I'm stuck.

But let me take a moment to tell you about KC Fringe. Or rather, maybe just Fringe Festivals in general.

If you have ANY inclination toward making art that you want to share with people, but don't really know where to start, or how to put a production together, or just don't have a lot of MONEY to put on a production, then Fringe is probably for you. The underlying mission of Fringes are to showcase art that may not otherwise been seen. And that's a pretty amazing gift to any new artist (or seasoned artist!) who is paralyzed by constructing a production, dealing with marketing costs, finding an audience, etc etc. You can learn how to be a production company in the midst of other people just like you, or people who have done 100 productions. There's so much to see, so much to learn.

Kansas City's Fringe Festival takes place July 18th-28th, 2013. Visit www.kcfringe.org to get an idea of what we're about and how you can find shows to that will expand your arts experience, and support artists who probably have no idea what the hell they are doing, but are so happy to be trying.

Like me.
